Esse was consultant paediatrician at the Evelina London Children's Hospital from 2006 to 2018, specialising in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and caring for children with severe and complex infections, immune deficiency and HIV.
Esse was the co-director of the pioneering Evelina Resolution project which piloted the use of mediation and conflict management training to clinical and non-clinical staff at the Evelina London. The project won the Mediation Programme of the year in the National Mediation Awards 2018 and has formed the evidence base for MMF’s Conflict Management Programme. Esse is one of the principal trainers working with MMF to deliver the training programmes deliver training to multidisciplinary health and social care professionals in the UK and internationally.
Esse is an accredited medical mediator, specialising in mediating disagreements between parents and health professionals about the care and treatment of children. She also mediates conflicts arising between colleagues in healthcare and is co-director of highly-evaluated leadership programmes for emerging and educational healthcare leaders.
